Glassblower and CRVA instructor Jon Curiel is pictured to the left working in the "Hot Shop" at Bogenrief Studios where he has been employed since 2007. 

 

CRVA's Director, Louis "Tony" Curiel designed and built the Bogenrief "Hot Shop," so we often work closely with the owners and staff at both Bogenrief Studios.  Their Spencer Studio is just a few blocks from our school and students are encouraged to visit and watch the scheduled glassblowing demonstrations.

Pictured to left is our CRVA demonstrators at the 2009 Clay County Fair - an annual extravaganza since 1917.  Our campus is located about 3 miles from the fairgrounds. Annually Spencer visitors enjoy  our glassblowing demonstrations and other features of the fair which include commercial and competitive exhibits, concerts, great food, fun, and much more!

Owner, Barb Dean, at the Medlar Studio offers Warm Glass classes in her back room and she offers a variety of one-day workshops at CRVA during the summer months.

 

At Medlar Studios you will find all types of jewelry, stain glass and other art supplies, plus it is a fun place to visit in downtown Spencer.

If you love beautiful couture and wonderful high fashion jewelry, then you will want to be sure you visit Fluff.  It is a unique boutique shop on the southeast side of Spencer. It's housed in the same building as Southern Archery on Hwy 18 heading east from Grand Avenue. The Iowa Great Lakes area is a popular destination during the spring and summer months and many enjoy visiting Spirit Lakes premier art gallery, A Piece of Work, inc. on Hill St in downtown Spirit Lake.

 

CRVA maintains a display booth (Booth/Alcove #8) in the gallery all year long.  So, when visiting the area, make sure you stop in and view CRVA staff and student work on display and offered for sale.
