Jon Curiel
|
Since age 11, Jon Curiel has been creating glass pieces of art, and he has also been exposed to some of the world’s finest glass artisans. In 2006 he moved from Michigan to Spencer, Iowa, immediately went to work as a glassblower in the hot shop at the Bogenrief Studios creating a multitude of glass vessels and ornaments. In 2008, he returned to his passion for creating on a torch when he began teaching lampworking skills to students at the Curiel-Reynolds School of Visual Arts (CRVA). In October of 2009, he left the full time position at Bogenrief Studios to devote himself to perfecting and developing his own glass artistry and teaching techniques on the torch. (He does, however, continue to help out at Bogenrief Studios in the hot shop when needed.) Inspired by the preparation for a series of 4-H high school workshops, he is now concentrating on creating a glass marble collection – it will be called the "Radiant Nubuli Series" ~ click here to learn about Jon's 4-H classes! |
