Beginning Architectural Stained Glass

The use of modern techniques of stained glass will be employed in this class where the student will focus on design and fabrication of a stained glass panel. Instructor: Louis “Tony” Curiel

 

Casting Silver

Students will be given a small supply of wax to carve and form. Project will be a ring or pendant to take home. Lab fee is included.  Instructor: Steve Booth

 


 

Apprenticeship Program

 

Stained Glass Artist

2-3 Year Competency-based Apprentice Program

In association with the Department of Labor, the CRVA has developed an Apprenticeship Program where students can receive on-the-job training in the field of stained glass. Apprenticeships are learn as you go programs that teach a specific industry trade.

 

As an Apprentice you will learn how to rub out a panel, techniques for dismantling a panel, how to make a leaded light, traditional glass painting as well as conservation techniques. In addition, you will gain an understanding of the origins of Stained Glass, the scientific side of glass work, and the process of taking a design from working drawings to the finished project. Iowa Vocational Rehab clients encouraged to apply.  Requirements of the Program:

·        Must be 18 years of age & possess a High School diploma or equivalent

·        Be physically able to perform the essentials of the job

·        Must live within 10-30 minutes of Spencer, Iowa, or willing to relocate

·        Able to work outside in all types of weather

·        Read and understand the English language
